The Directors
Rabbi Yigal and Elana Rosenberg serve as the directors of Hebrew Afterschool and work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that every single child who attends the afterschool has a positive, safe, and joyful experience. The Rosenberg's are driven by the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s love for every single Jew and vision to reveal the innate goodness in all humanity.
From as long as Elana can remember, Jewish schools and camps have been her happy place- first as a student, then as a teacher in New York's largest Jewish day school, and now the Director of Hebrew Afterschool. Elana's passion drove her to receive a Masters In Education and she is a firm believer that education should be exciting, engaging and interactive.
Rabbi Yigal spent many summers serving as a counselor, head counselor, and director in Jewish day camps throughout the continental United States and Israel. He is known for his infections positive energy that he brings wherever he goes. Rabbi Yigal who volunteered in the IDF now serves as a police chaplain for the city of Santa Clara. He brings this same energy of care into afterschool where takes care that every single student and staff member is given the space, opportunities, and tools they need to thrive.
Our Grounds
Afterschool Grounds: Bracher Elementary School
Bracher Elementary School's grounds are a vibrant hub of activity and education. The brand new playgrounds buzz with laughter and play, offering ample space for children to explore and have fun. Nearby sports fields provide opportunities for organized games and physical activity. Within the school's classrooms, students engage in learning with enthusiasm, surrounded by the nurturing environment of their Israeli teachers. Together, these spaces create a dynamic setting where children can grow academically, socially, and physically.
At Hebrew Afterschool, we provide a vibrant and enriching Jewish environment for children attending public schools. Our daily Hebrew immersion program is designed to foster a deep appreciation for each child's self-worth, cultivate compassion for others, and instill enduring Jewish values that serve as a guiding compass for life.
Our bilingual staff lead Hebrew lessons 3x a week with the acclaimed Italian curriculum, used in Israel and in Jewish day schools internationally. Our excellent student/staff ratio and differentiated instruction supports children in climbing the ranks of Hebrew literacy. Through our program, children not only gain proficiency in Hebrew language and literacy but also partake in exciting weekly Jewish enrichment activities led by our dedicated staff. Our aim is to create a fun and engaging space where children can explore and embrace their Jewish identity and connection to Israel.
Families who join Hebrew Afterschool become part of a welcoming and supportive community. They experience unique holiday celebrations and Jewish traditions that enrich their entire family. At Hebrew Afterschool, we see ourselves not just as an afterschool program but as an extended Jewish family.
